Sustainability - Taonga.    Am I a guardian of God's Creation?
We have been talking about Sustainability - Our NZ Taonga.  As part of this learning, we have looked at the damage that pests do and have been learning a bit about endemic/native plants and animals.  The kids are hooked!  I have had to stop the making of possum traps (we were doing more damage to the gardens than the possums would), they launch in to books about NZ birds, animals and plants and I have people excitedly telling me how many squashed possums they counted on the roads...   If you know anything about possum trapping, pest control, wilding pine eradication, caring for native birds, or just have some great stories or facts about our NZ Taonga, we would love to hear from you. You can share by coming in to talk, making a video, writing your story on paper or by emailing me.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Catechism of the Catholic Church, says, Jesus has loved us all with a human heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins and for our salvation, is quite rightly considered the chief sign and symbol of that love. (No.478).  Throughout the Gospel, we see the outpouring of Jesus’ love, whether in miracle stories, stories of forgiveness, or the compassion for the grieving.           “Therefore, love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength. “    Deuteronomy 6:5-6

Principal for the Day                                                                                                                                Jade Moller was the lucky winner of the gala competition this year.  She finally gets her chance to take charge this week.  I'm sure Jade will be amazing as Principal - she was in Room 5 last year after all, and we all know that Room 5 people are the best!
