Research

Room 5 kids are becoming more and more inquisitive.  They have lots of questions about the world around them and they want answers.  This morning there were lots of questions about animals.  How do fish breathe underwater? How do dogs understand us? How do you train an animal? ...

We decided that the answers must be out there somewhere so I was sent into the book room (thank goodness it's next door) to find books about animals and insects.  Everyone dived in and started researching.  We found some fascinating facts...






When puppies are first born, they can't open their eyes but they can smell their Mum.

Large spiders can eat fish, mice and birds!

A dog can be trained to help you cross the road.

Dogs and cats talk with their bodies.

Dogs that have jobs have to be trained when they are little.

When birds crash into windows it's because they see a reflection and don't know that the glass is there.

Owls eat insects and rabbits.

Baby turtles have to look after themselves because the mothers go to the sea before they hatch.

Turtle eggs are buried and the babies have to dig themselves out to go to the sea.
